Performing Arts in Children's Education
Performing Arts in Children's Education (PACE) develops performing arts in young people ages 4 - 18, and commits to educating youth on all aspects of theatre performance, management, and production. Since its founding in 2003, PACE has grown to be Columbia's premiere Youth Theatre. PACE is a non-profit 501(c)(3) educational organization funded primarily through its tuition, ticket sales and outside contributions.
Every session (fall, winter, spring) PACE offers theatre arts classes and full length productions for young people outside of school. Each session offers 8 - 10 classes throughout the school year, teaching drama, vocal technique and specialty classes (theatre makeup, auditioning techniques, etc.) as well as dance through our dance studio, Limelight. Enrolled students are given the opportunity to audition and perform on stage, or work backstage in a variety of technical roles. In the summer we offer two full length musicals as well as week long camps and Saturday workshops. Our students become our employees, working in a variety of capacities such as Assistant Directors, camp teachers, and artistic designers. We raise up the next generation of theatre artists and community leaders by challenging their social and creative skills through high quality theatrical programming.
